About me

Mr Jaheed Khan is a NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital and practices privately at Moorfields Private and Clinica London, Harley Street, London.

He graduated from the Royal Free Hospital and University College London Medical School in 1997. He completed primary ophthalmic training at St Thomas’ Hospital and was later awarded a medical doctorate (MD) for his scientific research into new treatments for diabetic maculopathy at Kings College London. He completed higher ophthalmic training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital. He was then selected for advanced sub-specialist fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital where he developed expertise in cataract surgery and management of conditions affecting the retina which include diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration.

He has presented internationally and published widely on new medical retina imaging techniques and latest retinal treatments. He has also written three medical retina chapters in the award winning textbook ‘Atlas of Clinical Ophthalmology’ cited as one of the 100 most important ophthalmic books of the 20th century. He has also contributed to the development of the latest treatments for retinal vein occlusion such as intravitreal ozurdex. He currently leads a new service at two sites that delivers intravitreal lucentis treatment for diabetic macular oedema.

Mr Khan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the European Society of Retinal Specialists (EURETINA).

Mr Khan is renowned for his teaching excellence and is a clinical supervisor for the London School of Ophthalmology with particular interests in developing teaching programmes for optometrists and nurses.
