About me

I am an experienced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon and have a busy practice treating people with general surgical (hernias and gallbladder problems) and bowel conditions including bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. I have a specialist interest in disorders of the pelvic floor that affect bowel function.

I am passionate about helping people to understand the conditions they are experiencing. It is vital to appreciate the various approaches that are available to treat these conditions and select the best one for each person, including non-surgical options.

I have been a Consultant Surgeon for 8 years. I qualified at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School before spending the next 15 years training in surgery in the South West Thames (Basic training) and the North West Thames (Higher training) regions. I worked with some excellent surgeons from whom I have learnt so much. I have published articles in peer-reviewed journals and I have presented at national and international meetings. I spent several years performing laboratory research looking for potential markers to screen for colorectal cancer. This work led to the award of a Master's Degree in Surgery from the University of London in 2010. I completed my training with an attachment at St Mark's Hospital where I was able to "fine-tune" my surgical techniques.

I get great satisfaction from my chosen career and enjoy helping people with difficult and sometimes, embarrassing, symptoms.

I am married with two sons. Our family is completely mad about rugby and we spend much of our free time either watching or discussing it!
