About me

I'm a consultant cardiologist at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Trust, based in central London. My private practice is based at the Cromwell Hospital in Kensington and Chelsea

I see patients in person, or at their convenience using video calling or telephone. Heart monitors can be posted out for the patient to attach themselves and post back and provide all the information that is often needed to make a diagnosis. Patients can send in traces from the Apple watch or devices such as the AliveCor by Kardia, or any other form of ECG monitoring

I specialise in the management of all arrhythmias, but in particular atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial tachycardias (AT). Atrial fibrillation is the commonest sustained arrhythmia and can lead to strokes, and commonly causes fatigue and lethargy, as well as shortness of breath, reduced exercise capacity and palpitations. It is characterised by an irregular and erratic pulse.

I treat patients with any disturbance of heart rhythm. Typical symptoms of arrhythmia can include palpitations, but patients often feel as if the heart is beating very rapidly, or in some cases stopping. Other symptoms which may be due to heart rhythm problems include tiredness, pain in the throat, shortness of breath and collapses or faints.

I have published over 100 peer reviewed papers and over 30 reviews and book chapters, and I am a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society, as well as being a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and the European Heart Rhythm Association. My research interest is in improving the outcomes of patients having AF ablation, in particular the role of real-time lesion visualisation. I regularly give lectures at international meetings as well as perform televised ablations to teach other physicians.
