Audits have demonstrated 80-85% response rates for knee, shoulder and ankle injection, with complete pain relief in 1 in 3 patients.
1 in 6 patients are aware of some post-injection pain and 1 in 5 are aware of some facial flushing for a few days.
The published infection rates associated with joint injections are of the order of 1 in 10,000, but approximately 1 in 2,000 for patients with an underlying predisposition to infection.
