About me

Martin Harvey gained his degree in Podiatric Medicine from Sunderland University and went on to postgraduate studies at New College Durham, Birmingham City University and the University of Hertfordshire. His postgraduate qualifications include dermatological surgery skills, advanced local anaesthesia and supplementary and independent prescribing. In addition to his clinical work he teaches joint and soft tissue injection procedures to graduate podiatrists and additionally lectures in the UK and abroad on these and other subjects. In 2010 he was appointed as a board member to the Department of Health Podiatry and Physiotherapy independent prescribing project and remained until its successful conclusion in 2012 when the Minister of Health announced the implementation of independent prescribing for suitable trained Podiatrists and Physiotherapists from 2013/2014. In 2016 he was appointed Vice Chair of the Executive Council of the IOCP a national professional body for Podiatry and in 2017 made Chair of the Council, which duties he combines with his busy Hospital and Primary care clinics and teaching roles.
