About me

I was a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for some 30 years until I retired from the NHS. I have a considerable experience of endocrinology, particularly the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease and have published widely in all the major medical journals and textbooks. I have served as President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and as President of the British Thyroid Association and was Physician to Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland between 1996 and 2009.

Areas of interest

All endocrine disorders with the exception of diabetes mellitus; very experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules and goitre.
