About me

Dr Stella Jean Compton Dickinson began her psychotherapy training at Guy's and St Thomas' medical school in 1998 . She was awarded the MSc in Mental Health Studies in 2003, accreditation in Cognitive Analytic Therapy in 2007, UKCP registration in 2009 and BACP registration to the newly formed professional standards authority register in 2014. She is also a registered Music Therapist and accredited Supervisor on the HCPC register. Since 2009 she has established private clinics at Guy's Hospital, Harley Street and in North London. She continued with doctoral research in the NHS until 2013 and was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy in October 2015 for clinically implemented research, receiving the Ruskin medal for the most impactful doctoral project in 2016.
With an impressive portfolio of continuous professional development and client feedback, along with experience from her successful first career in the music industry, Dr Compton specialises in the treatment of men and women who work in the performing arts, sports and media.
Having provided services to two specialist adolescent treatment units and over many years in forensic psychiatric services, she uses a developmental approach in treating young people who are suffering with eating disorders, self harm and anxiety. She is a published author and peer reviewer.

I provide tailored, integrative treatments for each individual based on my twenty years of clinical experience, knowledge and skills. I have successfully treated major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders; post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bereavement, eating disorders, substance misuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), major trauma and alcohol / drug dependency.
