About me

Dr Oliver Segal is a Cardiologist specialising in Electrophysiology – heart rhythm problems. His NHS practices are at Barts Heart Centre (St. Bartholomew's Hospital) & University College London Hospital. He sees patients with palpitations and all types of arrhythmia, particularly atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, ectopic or ‘skipped’ beats, SVT and slow heart rhythms causing dizzy spells and blackouts. He also sees patients with chest pain and breathlessness. He is an expert in performing catheter ablation for all types of arrhythmia and implanting pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), loop recorders and biventricular pacing systems (CRT). He has performed >2,000 electrophysiology studies & ablations and >1,000 device implantation procedures. He also performs pacemaker lead extraction and implants left atrial appendage occlusion devices (the Amulet) for patients with AF and high risk of stroke who cannot take anticoagulants or when anticoagulants have failed. He also implants the new Medtronic Micra leadless pacemaker. Dr Segal has >60 publications.
