About me
Dr Oliver Segal is a Cardiologist specialising in cardiac electrophysiology – the treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. He is Lead for Arrhythmia at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and is a Consultant at Barts Heart Centre, St. Bartholomew's Hospital where he operates on the NHS. He sees patients privately at The Harley Street clinic, with all types of arrhythmia, including fast rhythms like atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, frequent ectopic or ‘skipped’ beats, supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs), VT and slow heart rhythms causing dizzy spells and blackouts needing pacemakers. He is an expert in performing catheter ablation for all types of arrhythmia and implanting pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), loop recorders (Reveal LINQ) and biventricular pacemakers (CRT). He has performed >2,000 electrophysiology studies & ablations and >1,000 device implantation procedures. He performs chronic pacemaker lead extraction and implants left atrial appendage occlusion devices (the Amulet) for patients with AF and high risk of stroke who cannot take anticoagulants or when anticoagulants have failed. He also implants the new Medtronic Micra leadless pacemaker. Dr Segal has >70 peer reviewed publications.
