About me

I am a qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist, counsellor, supervisor (individual and group) and teacher of adults in post-compulsory education and training. As a Registered member of UKCP through the HIP College I adhere to their codes of ethics and professional practice and the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy. A strong believer in equality of opportunity, respect for difference and anti-oppressive practice, I regularly attend workshops and read current journals, books, articles and research published on the internet, in order to enhance my knowledge and keep up to date with current thinking in the counselling and psychotherapy field.

I have considerable experience, gained over nearly 20 years in practice - approximately 6,000 hours to date. I have worked with a range of clients from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, presenting with issues such as relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol problems, work and study, bereavement and loss; some with serious mental health issues including psychosis, schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. Some of these clients have been at risk of suicide and/or self-harm. All of my work is supervised and insured in accordance with professional standards.
