About me
As a postgraduate, Charles Gordon trained on the South West London rotation, including the St George's National Endoscopy Centre. He undertook clinical research in oesophageal physiology, Barrett's oesophagus and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
Dr Gordon is now a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Trust.
He is an experienced endoscopist, both upper GI and colonoscopy, and regularly performs upper and lower GI therapeutics
His areas of specialist interest include irritable bowel syndrome, Barrett's oesophagus (including HALO radiofrequency ablation), endoscopy, reflux disease (including endoscopic therapy/STRETTA), the hiatus hernia, colonoscopy, and GI physiology (the techniques used to diagnose problems due to reflux/heartburn).
He has expertise in the diagnosis and management of Barrett's oesophagus (a condition of the gullet that increases the risk of oesophageal cancer). He heads the service that treats Barrett's oesophagus- a treatment called HALO RadioFrequency Ablation (RFA). Dr Gordon contributes to research in this field, and teaches on national endotherapy courses.
