Mr Taran Tatla received a First Class Honours Intercalated degree in Anatomy (1994) and gained M.B.,B.S. in 1996 whilst studying Medicine at University College London . Following completion of clinical studies he made rapid progress through highly competitive and comprehensive basic and higher surgical training programmes, incorporating posts at many of the renowned London teaching hospitals to be awarded FRCS in ORL-HNS in 2006. He then commenced his substantial NHS consultant post at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust, specializing in ENT disorders with Head & Neck sub-specialty interest.
He manages a wide variety of adult and paediatric patients with general ENT disorders and has a particular interest in snoring disorders and problems related to the nose and sinuses. As one of two Consultant ENT-H&N Surgeons based at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust / Mount Vernon Hospital, he contributes as a core member to the North West London Thyroid and H&N Cancer multi-disciplinary teams, providing secondary and tertiary care specialist services in the full spectrum of ENT-H&N disease.
He receives weekly referrals covering over a million patient population base in North West London and leads multi-disciplinary teams in investigating and treating patients with neck lumps, voice, throat, swallow, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, both benign and malignant. He also leads a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive evidence-based management of tracheostomy-dependent patients.
Mr Tatla demonstrates a fruitful commitment to continuous improvement in service reorganisation and care delivery. He actively pursues a number of managerial, leadership and academic roles (teaching & research) in order to provide high quality and safe, “state of the art” services utilising the latest in technological advances for diagnostics and treatments. He runs a number of innovative and successful national postgraduate training courses for surgeons and multi-disciplinary staff on the back of his extensive clinical efforts.
