I have been a consultant since 1998 initially in Glasgow and since 2001 in Edinburgh. I qualified from St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1987 and trained in General Medicine in Southampton. I commenced Oncology training in Edinburgh in 1991 completing this in Newcastle and Glasgow. My specialities in my NHS practice are radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer and radiotherapy for haematological malignancies.

The Edinburgh Breast Unit has an international reputation and as a member of that team I contribute to chemotherapy, hormonal and radiotherapy trials.
I teach undergraduates, postgraduates and senior doctors communication skills as one of the senior facilitators for EC4H. I have always taken an active interest in teaching and training doctors and currently am Medical Director for Education and Training for the Royal College of Radiologists.
I keep fit and well running, walking and going to the gym. I enjoy the theatre and the arts and play the oboe in an Edinburgh orchestra.
