About me
Appointed as consultant surgeon to the Royal Gwent Hospital in 2008. I underwent Higher Surgical Training in Wales, including 2 years of research into molecular biology of colorectal cancer at Swansea University. I was awarded a prestigious national laparoscopic colorectal fellowship for 6 months in Leeds. Under the tutelage of Prof P Sagar I gained advanced skills in laparoscopic surgery for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease and also surgery for advanced pelvic cancer and anal disorders.
MRCS examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Associate Editor (Colorectal) for Annals of Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Honorary Lecturer in Surgery (Cardiff University).
South Wales representative on Council of Association of Coloproctology of GB&I
Member of Clinical Advisory Group of ACPGBI for inflammatory bowel disease.
Areas of interest
All aspects of colorectal disease & colorectal surgery. All types of hernias (inguinal, umbilical, femoral, incisional). Lumps & skin lesions. All anal conditions. Colonoscopy; gastroscopy; laparoscopic colorectal surgery. I do not perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy or laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.
