About me

Mr. Ewan Kannegieter is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with over 20 years’ experience. He undertakes over 800 surgical foot procedures each year.

A previous winner of the Glasgow Caledonian University Clinical Medicine Prize, he graduated with a distinction in Podiatric Medicine in 1999 and went on to further his training in Bishops Stortford, Epping, Colchester, Ilkeston and Reading before gaining his fellowship in Podiatric Surgery in 2012 and certificate of completion of podiatric surgical training in 2016.

Following 3 happy years as a Specialist Registrar in Podiatric Surgery at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Mr. Kannegieter relocated to the Essex countryside, where he now works both privately and for the NHS as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon.

Over the past 20 years, Mr. Kannegieter has honed his skills and experience in elective foot surgery and has developed a special interest in diabetic limb salvage surgery, the rheumatoid foot and elective surgery of common foot problems such as bunions and hammer toes.

Mr Kannegieter was appointed as Regional Chair of the Southern Deanery for Podiatric Surgery in 2020, is a member of the Podiatric Surgery Faculty Board, and is the co-chair of the annual scientific conference for podiatric surgery (FOPS Conference) for 2022 and 2023.

He is proud to be a tutor in Podiatric Surgery and has lectured at various regional and national conferences with the College of Podiatry. He is a reviewer for the UK Podiatry journal, Podiatry Now, leads clinical governance and supervision for surgical units and is a mentor for surgical first assistants, non-medical prescribers and advanced clinical MSc students.

Ewan is an instructor for Marquardt fixation at their annual lower limb cadaveric surgery course in Frankfurt, and works as a consultant for Novastep helping design internal fixation for the European-American market. He provides second opinions on foot pathology and surgery cases for colleagues and patients from around the globe, from countries such as China, USA, Italy, Israel and Australia.
