About me

Ian grew up in South West London, where he developed a keen interest in sports and outdoor activities. He chose to retrain as a chiropractor following a significant spinal injury.

He studied for five years at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, Bournemouth, where he graduated with First Class honours in 2003 and awards.

Trained in various techniques including manipulation, soft tissue techniques (including IASTM, ultrasound and interferential electrical modalities), rehabilitation (including exercise and stretching programmes), traction, medical imaging (including x-ray - taking and interpreting, MRI - interpretation, particularly of the spine) and advice (including ergonomic and postural applications – workstation, office, home, car, etc.).

He is trained in myofascial dry needling (also known as western acupuncture or dry needling), sports injury taping and obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2004.

As an intern he developed a keen interest in the rehabilitation of injuries ranging from acute to chronic and sports related to those encountered simply in daily life situations. He was particularly privileged to work with patients significantly affected by strokes, using techniques designed to challenge and improve their physical abilities.

He has a personal and professional interest in osteoporosis, dizziness (particularly BPPV - Benign Paroxysymal Positional Vertigo), disc injuries and a particular interest in sports related injuries, from spinal related to extremity injuries of the upper and lower limbs) and spinal rehabilitation (including core stabilisation and strengthening), whether acute or chronic pain or dysaesthesia, keeping in line with evidence based and best practise.

Each patient has their own unique treatment programme tailored to their individual needs, with referrals made where indicated and all parties kept informed (patient, GP and consultant, physio or other healthcare professional). Some patients are already under the excellent care of the hospital and other medical care professionals and find chiropractic management can add another layer to their treatment regime and help further.

He has worked with world class champion athletes to those of a more sedentary life style, amputees and other underlying or medical complications, from babies and paediatrics to geriatrics and those of a more mature standing into their nineties.

He has published work in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and been involved with several charities, including the National Osteoporosis Society, is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a member of the British Chiropractic Association, Licentiate to the Royal College of Chiropractors and Associate to the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic.

Referrals are made for MRI/x-ray and further investigations as necessary, and to consultants, GPs and other specialists as appropriate.

Areas of interest

Treatment of acute and chronic pain/dysaesthesia; back, neck and extremity symptoms; disc injuries; sports injuries; spinal rehabilitation - evidence based; BPPV - Benign Paroxysymal Positional Vertigo.
