About me
Mr Maninder Kalkat qualified in 1989, and specialized in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Chandigarh in India. He completed his training in the West Midlands Cardiothoracic Surgical Training Programme. He is currently a Consultant and Clinical Director in the Regional Department of Thoracic Surgery at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. He also works as a lung transplant surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham.
With his extensive experience and expertise, Mr Kalkat was responsible for introducing the minimally invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic procedure for major lung resections for lung cancer in the region. He is a member of the regional multi-disciplinary teams for the management of lung cancers and sarcomas that involve chest walls and lungs. He is a faculty member of national and international teaching and training courses.
