About me

Mr Kian Chin qualified from Bristol University in 1993 and completed his pre-registration training in the Southwest of England. He was appointed as Consultant Breast Oncoplastic and General Surgeon at Milton Keynes General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (MKGHFT) in June 2007. He is the Lead Breast Cancer Reconstructive Surgeon at Milton Keynes Hospital.

His interest in General Surgery followed after training in cardiothoracic, orthopaedic, urology and vascular Surgery and he became a Specialist Surgical Registrar in the Oxfordshire Training Deanery in 2001, working at various hospitals including Oxford, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Stoke Mandeville.

During his general surgical training, he developed a subspecialty interest in breast surgery after researching in breast cancer molecular biology and neoangiogenesis at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratory in Oxford.

In 2005, he was awarded the National Breast Oncoplastic Fellowship funded centrally by the UK Department of Health to pursue experience in reconstructive surgery for breast cancer patients at the Royal Haslar Hospital in Gosport & Portsmouth University Hospital.

Having attained the Intercollegiate Higher Surgical Exams in breast and general surgery, his Certificate of Completion of Training was awarded in 2006.

In addition to clinical duties, he is also interested in education. He is an Educational Director for the Royal College Surgeons of England as well as an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
