I was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Bournemouth in May 2007. I graduate from Cambridge University (pre-clinical studies) with a double first in 1990 and from Oxford University (clinical studies) in 1993. I trained in Urology in Oxford, Edinburgh, and Melbourne (where I undertook a fellowship). I provide a full general urology service with a specific interest in prostate disease / prostate cancer, bladder and kidney cancer, and keyhole (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery.
I am actively involved in the training of urological surgeons. I write exam questions for the final FRCS Urology examination and I am a viva examiner.

I undertook a period of full time research in Oxford 1998-2000 and wrote my MD thesis on the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) in kidney cancer.
I have published widely throughout my career, most recently on aspects of prostate cancer / laparoscipic surgery for prostate cancer.
I live locally, am married to a teacher, and have 14 year old twins. I like to run, ski, and do DIY. I am a committed Christian. We are actively involved in our local church and local skatepark (see www.streetlightproject.org.uk and www.thepointwimborne.org)
2004 I was elected to the office of Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
2002 My MD thesis was awarded the European Association of Urology Thesis Award for the best research thesis that year.
2000 I was presented with the Heinrich Warner Prize in Hamburg (awarded biennually) for outstanding research in uro-oncology.
I am co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Urological Surgery (a widely used textbook of operative urology).
I have published original papers and review articles regularly throughout my career.
