About me

I have been a Gastroenterologist for 12 years. I have performed thousands of gastroscopies, colonoscopies over the years. I also have done many polyp removal procedures and specialize in Endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) for complex, large polyps(am the lead for these procedures in the Royal Gwent Hospital. My area of interest is mucosal imaging and I am an expert on dye spray, acetic acid spray and other mucosal enhancement techniques for Colitis surveillance and Barrett's surveillance which assists in early cancer detection.
I am the Clinical Lead for IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) for Aneurin Bevan Health Board leading a group of gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, dietitians and pharmacists involved in IBD care.
I am a member of the LNC of Aneurin Bevan Health Board. This is a committee of elected representatives of the senior doctors who liaise with senior management of the health board. I am the Training Programme Director for Gastroenterology(TPD) for Wales. I also represent Wales on the UKwide Specialist Advisory Committee(SAC) which is responsible and regulates Gastroenterology training in the UK.
Physician trainees have to pass the MRCP exam to enter specialist training programme. I host the MRCP PACES exam for our trainees and am a PACES examiner for the Royal College of Physicians. I am on the Question writing board for Gastroenterology exit exam(Royal College of Physicians) which all trainees have to pass before they can complete their Gastroenterology training and are allowed to practice independently.
