About me
I have substantial experience of providing therapy within both the NHS and the private sector. I qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2006. Before this I worked as a Specialist Counsellor in Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services and also as a Counsellor in GPs surgeries for 7 years. My main approach to therapy is cognitive behavioural. However, I am trained in a number of other approaches that I can integrate into therapy to help people. These include humanistic, solution focused, motivational, mindfulness and compassion focused approaches. I like to adopt an integrated approach in order to offer the best possible help I can. Over the years I have helped people with all sorts of problems. These include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship problems, trauma from childhood abuse including sexual abuse, trauma from something awful happening like a road traffic accident, obsessive compulsive disorder, hearing voices, drug and alcohol problems. I enjoy helping people with a wide range of difficulties as a therapist. I believe in people's capacity to grow, change and heal through therapy.
