About me
I am a consultant cardiovascular Radiologist in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology, University of Glasgow. I have worked at Glasgow Royal Infirmary since 1997 with clinical and research interests in cardiovascular & thoracic radiology. I was involved with cardiac MRI while training in Aberdeen, with further experience gained in CMR techniques as visiting Fellow at Harvard University, Boston, USA. I have provided clinical CMR at Glasgow Royal Infirmary since 1998 and ECG gated cardiac CTA since 2004. My particular interests are in cardiac MRI, cardiac CTA, renovascular imaging, lower limb MRA techniques, carotid MRA and venous imaging. I am Level 3 accredited in both cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.
I am interested in all aspects of MRI contrast agents, including adverse events and risk management - I am the current Chair for Contrast Procurement in Scotland & Northern Ireland and this last year have updated the RCR Standards for Intravascular Contrast Administration to Adult Patients.
I am currently Treasurer of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, closely involved as the society has become a professional organisation successfully negotiating the transition to formal charity status. I have been involved in promoting non-invasive cardiovascular imaging at all levels in the UK and internationally, current Chair of the Scottish Subcommittee of the BIR.
