About me

Jo-anne worked in the NHS for nearly 20 years before moving to private practice and developing PSYCTC.com. Her NHS experience was diverse including working at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. More recently she was employed by South London and the Maudsley NHS Trust where she was part of a team offering Reflective Practice and Team Development within forensic services. In these settings she developed specialist clinical and organisational skills as well as conducting innovative research. Jo-anne was also involved in a range of teaching and training programmes and has held key roles in the Society for Psychotherapy Research and the BPS Psychotherapy Section. She was appointed to the Education and Training Committee of the Health Professions Council (HCPC) from 2009-2013. She is currently a Trustee and Board member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation.

Jo-anne's broad interests also include: work with refractory depression, work with people with long term and chronic mental health problems; group relations models of learning, working with personality difficulties, working with disenfranchised groups. Jo-anne is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, Unoversity of Exeter where she co organises an innovative training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She also works as an Organisational Consultant and has consulted to members of the National Theatre, the Church of England as well as in NHS and Charitable Healthcare settings. Jo-anne has presented her work nationally and internationally and has published both clinical and research papers.
