About me
I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Manchester Heart Centre, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, Manchester, England. I graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, in 1988, and undertook my postgraduate General Medical training in London and Oxford. I then completed General Cardiology training in Birmingham, Oxford and Wales, and undertook 2 years of basic science research in diabetic cardiomyopathy as a British Heart Foundation Junior Research Fellow, leading to the award of an MD degree from University of London. I subsequently travelled to the USA to subspecialise in coronary intervention, including a 2.5 year clinical/research fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and the New York University Medical Centre, New York. During my time there, I worked closely with leaders in the field, including Drs Greg Stone, Martin Leon and Gary Roubin.
I have published widely in clinical and basic science research and has authored circa 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, many in high-impact factor journals. My research interests are in the fields of acute coronary syndromes, fractional flow reserve, vascular closure devices and vascular biology. I have been a co-director of the Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics Conference (C3) in the USA since 2014, and am Editor-in-Chief of Heart International.
