About me

My formative years were based in a regional civilian and military trauma unit based in Birmingham which allowed me to develop my musculoskeletal and trauma specialities.

I have always worked in multidisciplinary (MD) settings and this has enabled me to understand how collaborative working provides the most effective outcome for our patient groups.

These MD relationships cover the key players in MSK cases such as Physiotherapists / Sports Doctors / Orthopaedic Surgeons / Radiologists / GP’s / Chiropractors / Osteopaths / Strength & Conditioning teams and Soft Tissue Therapists.

The ability to communicate openly with those involved in the care pathways are instrumental in optimising the end results for our patients and the process of understanding and learning from other disciplines makes clinical practice exciting and rewarding.

Trauma: dealing with poly trauma patients with lower limb involvement and optimising their mechanical function with interventions such as footwear strategies / foot level orthoses / ankle foot orthoses / gait reduction / rehabilitation programs.

Musculoskeletal injury: different sports populations including running / cycling / football and netball at both a domestic and national level standard with interventions such as footwear strategies / foot level orthoses / ankle foot orthoses / return to play protocols / rehabilitation programs.

Neurological: working with patients with brain injury (acquired) / Cerebral Palsy / Charcot Marie Tooth / Spina Bifida / Muscular Dystrophies with interventions such as footwear strategies / foot level orthoses / ankle foot orthoses / gait re eduction / rehabilitation programs.

Ankle foot orthoses management post spinal injury / surgery and foot drop interventions.

Inflammatory Joint Disease: working with patients with active and chronic inflammatory joint disease with interventions such as footwear strategies / foot level orthoses / ankle foot orthoses / gait re eduction / rehabilitation programs.

Medico legal Work: My involvement with lower limb trauma has provided me with extensive experience in mapping out current and future orthotic & footwear needs / expert opinion on clinical negligence / Joint case reports / working with both claimant and defendant based on instructions.
