My patients often ask me what made me decide on physiotherapy as a career...I knew from the age of 13 that physiotherapy was the career for me. I loved biology at school but medicine didn’t give me the flexibility and diversification I was looking for in a career. After finishing my training I specialised in outpatient within 18 months, working within both the NHS and as a locum for the first 5 years. I was then approached to head up the physiotherapy service at a local hospital in Birkenhead, which is where I met my husband. I moved into the private sector after a couple of challenging years of seeing the department through a phase of transition and with my experience in Sports Physiotherapy this gave me a good balance between my professional and family life.
We moved to North Wales in June 2004, soon after getting married, and then a couple of years later our daughter, Holly, came along. Rather than facing the thought of travelling back to the Wirral for work, I took a post at NBNA looking after their staff and during this time was approached by a local GP to set up a part-time physiotherapy service in Mold...and the rest you could say is history!!
The Practice has grown as my daughter has and we have gone from two mornings a week to fulltime plus in 6 years. Physiotherapy was the best choice I ever made and running GS Physio has enabled me to achieve goals both personally and professionally. I love the job satisfaction of making a difference to peoples quality of life and its getting to know my patients that I love the most. Some have become great friends to both myself and my colleagues, long may it continue.
I am truly blessed to work with such highly trained, professional and committed colleagues and it is a great honour to guide the practice into the future. We all make a great team!
