Mr Andras Kemeny, Consultant Neurosurgeon, trained in Budapest, joining the Neurosurgical Training Programme at the National Institute of Neurosurgery. He continued his training in England in 1982 spending three years in London before moving to Sheffield where he received his first Gamma Knife training.
In 1991 he was appointed in Sheffield as Consultant Neurosurgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Sheffield. He is the founder neurosurgeon of the Sheffield Epilepsy Surgery Programme. He is one of the UK pioneers of Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Epilepsy.
Mr Kemeny was the Director and Lead Consultant of the National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Sheffield and was elected as President of the European Gamma Knife Society in 2001. He was the Chairman of the Radiosurgery Clinical Reference Group advising NHS England regarding the use of radiosurgery. He was the President of the British Radiosurgery Society. He was Chair of the Radiosurgery Section of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies.
