About me

I am an accredited specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. I have been in private practice at Spire Bushey, Spire Harpenden and Bishops Wood Hospitals since 1990. I left the NHS in September 2011 to work solely in private practice.

For 21 years I was an NHS Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon working at Mount Vernon, Watford, Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals. This busy consultant practice provided me with extensive experience in managing both adults and children presenting with a broad range of acute and elective conditions affecting the jaws, teeth, salivary glands, orbits, cheekbones and soft tissues of the mouth face and neck.

I regularly held joint clinics with Orthodontists, Plastic Surgeons and speech therapists to manage patients with both cleft and non cleft facial deformity; with a Dermatologist to manage intra-oral mucosal conditions and skin lesions of the head and neck; and with Oncologists to manage cancer of the head & neck, including parotid tumors. I was a core member of the Mount Vernon Cleft team and the Head & Neck Cancer MDT. In the last three years of my NHS consultant practice I was a lead surgeon for facial trauma at Northwick Park Hospital and had a weekly trauma clinic and theatre list. I regularly used the CO2 laser to treat lesions in and around the mouth and continue to do so.

Throughout my NHS Consultant career I was involved in the education and training of surgical trainees, primary care practitioners and professions allied to medicine. I was appointed by the London Deanery as training program director in North West London and subsequently for 7 years as Chair of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Higher Surgical training committee for London and the South East of England, responsible for organising training for approximately a third of the UK's OMFS trainees. I was Postgraduate Dental Tutor at Mount Vernon Hospital for 15 years organising and running courses for dental practitioners. I was an examiner for the final part of the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons. I continue to give educational lectures.

I was responsible for proposing and establishing the North West London Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service network based at Northwick Park Hospital. One of the largest Oral & Maxillofacial Units in the UK.
