Mr Majumdar completed his undergraduate dental qualification with several prizes in 1984 and only 5 years later in 1989 he obtained the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England. In his pursuit of a career in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Mr Majumdar qualified as a doctor 1996 from the University of Sheffield, with distinction in the Final MBChB examination. After a period of two years and a basic general surgical training he was successful in the Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998.
Mr Majumdar completed his higher specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was admitted to the GMC Specialist List in October 2003. He was appointed as a Consultant in the Herts Beds and Bucks Maxillofacial Network in May 2004.
Mr Majumdar has an NHS practice incorporating all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. His specialist interests are in the surgical treatment of facial/jaw disproportion, jaw joint problems (TMJ disorders), salivary gland disease ,facial skin lesions ,facial cosmetic procedures and dental implant surgery including bone grafts and sinus lifts.
Since August 2004, he has been working in private practice, covering all aspects of Oral and Facial Surgery in all age groups of patients. Arun receives referrals from general dental practitioners, general medical practitioners and fellow consultant colleagues as well as patients who have self-referred for a second opinion and treatment from Milton Keynes and the surrounding counties.
Mr Majumdar is a recognised provider for all major private medical insurance companies including BUPA. He regularly attends and presents at meetings both at home and abroad, not only in Oral and Facial Surgery, but also in Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery, Dermatological Surgery and Dental Implantology. He has over 23 publications and 25 international and national presentations.
Mr Majumdar is an appraiser and a 360 degree multisource feedback facilitator at Luton and Dunstable Hospital for colleagues for GMC revalidation requirements.
He is also a surgical trainer educational supervisor for surgical trainees and acts as examiner for the Final MBChB exam (University College London) and the Certificate in Minor Oral Surgery Examination conducted by the FGDP.
Mr Majumdar regularly organises oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental implant courses for dentists and lectures on GP training meetings on all aspects of oral and facial surgery. As well as his other posts Mr Majumdar has been the clinical lead in OMFS at Milton Keynes University Hospital since 2004, and from 2004-2014 held the position of Honorary Chairman and Secretary of the Milton Keynes Section of the British Dental Association.
