This package includes your appointments before and after surgery, as well as your surgery and mono-focal lenses. It means you won’t use up your out-patient benefit or receive any additional bills from your surgeon (or anaesthetist, if you need one) for eligible treatment.

Pieter Gouws is an independent consultant ophthalmologist working at the Spire Sussex Hospital in East Sussex. He holds two fellowships specialising in Glaucoma (Toronto, Canada – 2004-2005) and Medical Retina (Bristol, England – 2003-2004)
His previous post was consultant ophthalmologist with special interest in Glaucoma and Medical Retina and clinical lead at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings (2005 to Feb 2018).
He is a very experienced surgeon in glaucoma, anterior segment, oculoplastic and strabismus procedures and experienced in all medical retinal procedures. In addition he is an accomplished phaco surgeon experienced in high-volume day case cataract surgery (personally performed over 20 000 procedures) as well as complex cataract extractions, He set up and ran the diabetic screening in East Sussex until I left the NHS and the programme is responsible for screening 25 000 patients per year.
Pieter Gouws is published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and present regularly at national and international events. He has completed numerous clinical and laboratory research projects in Ophthalmology and also has a keen interest in teaching, with qualifications in career counselling and medical education.
