About me

I have had Thirteen years of consultant experience in a large district general hospital which is an associated teaching hospital of the University of Leeds. I hold the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer (Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine (University of Leeds)) in recognition of my role in leading the teaching of Musculoskeletal Medicine to fifth Year medical students. I am clinical supervisor to a specialist rheumatology trainee.
During my time in the NHS it has been my pleasure to develop the use of biological therapies for inflammatory joint disease and vasculitis, be instrumental in the development of a directly accessible DEXA unit, and initiate the development of combined clinics with immunology, chest medicine (to improve the outcomes of patients with chest complications of rheumatic disease such as pulmonary fibrosis). I have developed local protocols for the treatment of complex vasculitis.
I have developed a wide experience and interest in musculoskeletal medicine by virtue of developing an injection clinic which runs weekly and also serves as a training base for both trainee general practitioners and rheumatology trainees. I have joint sessions with both physiotherapy and podiatry the latter winning the 2007 NRAS innovation prize.
I am passionate about bringing innovation to my practice by keeping up to date.
