I have had extensive experience in nealy all aspects of general surgery including both Upper and Lower gastrointestinal surgery, thyroid and breast surgery and urology.
My current practice and special interests include:
Management of gall stones and gall bladder disease I have done over 4500 gall bladder operations including laparoscopic and open cholecystectomies, per-operative cholangiogram, bile duct explorations and stone removal.
Thyroid surgery (including thyroid nodules, goitre and thyrotoxicosis). I have been doing thyroid surgery for more than 25 years. I offer a truly multidisciplinary approach to the management of surgical thyroid disorders and worek in close association with a medical endocrinologist and a dedicated thyroid radiologist with extensive experience in the ultrasound of the thyroid gland.
Hernia surgery including both primary and recurrent hernias.I treat all kinds of abdominal wall hernias including inguinal, umbilical/paraumbilical, incisional and femoral hernias. I have performed over 5000 hernia operations and successfully managed many challenging cases including large hernias and multiple recurrences.
I also have a special interst in surgery for pilonidal sinus disease, treatment of which has generally been associated with high rates of recurrence, open wounds and prolonged healing times. I have been doing Karydakis procedure for this condition for last 15 years and have acieved low recurrence, infection and wound breakdown rates.
