About me

Professor Basil Ammori is a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital (NHS), a Honorary Professor of Hepatobiliary and Bariatric Surgery at The University of Manchester. He also held Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, bariatric surgery (obesity surgery), and surgery of the gallbladder, bile duct, liver and pancreas.
Professor Basil Ammori is an internationally renowned Bariatric Surgeon. He has expertise in over 4000 laparoscopic (keyhole) weight loss surgical procedures including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric plication, duodenal switch and gastric balloon as well as complex revision surgery. He has successfully operated on people with body mass index as high as 87 kg/m2.
He has published over 163 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.
