About me

James Lindsay studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and undertook a PhD in the immunology of Crohn's disease at Imperial College, London, before completing gastroenterology training at St Mark's Hospital. He is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Barts Health NHS Trust in London, UK. Along with a full multidisciplinary team he runs the adult and adolescent IBD services at The Royal London Hospital. He is Chair of the ECCO education committee and has led working groups for the ECCO consensus on the management of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

In addition, he is a Reader in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Barts and the London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London. He is the chief investigator for a series of investigator led and commercial clinical trials in IBD and serves on the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD clinical trials steering group. In addition, he leads a translational research program in mucosal immunology.
