About me

Dr (Richard) Andrew Archbold was appointed as a Consultant in 2004. He works at Barts Heart Centre, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and at Newham University Hospital.

Dr Archbold qualified from The London Hospital Medical College where he was awarded prizes in Clinical Medicine and in Clinical Surgery. He is a member of the London Cardiac Clinical Leadership Advisory Group, and of the national Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services. He is a Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians and the immediate past Chair of the British Cardiovascular Society Guidelines & Practice Committee. He is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians as an Educational Supervisor for junior doctors.

Dr Archbold is a General & Interventional Cardiologist who manages patients with all types of cardiovascular problem including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitation, and high blood pressure. He performs coronary angiography and coronary stent procedures at Barts Heart Centre, at The London Independent Hospital, and at The Wellington Hospital. He has an interest in the pre-operative assessment of patients who are scheduled to undergo non-cardiac surgery (for example knee replacement, hernia repair, prostate or gynaecological surgery)..
