Dr Bulusu has been appointed as the Consultant Oncologist at the Primrose Oncology Unit, Bedford hospital in 2002. He completed his postgraduate medical training from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India. He obtained his fellowship in clinical oncology from the Royal College of Radiologists after successfully completing his oncology training at the Beatson Oncology Centre, Glasgow, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and Churchill Hospital, Oxford. He has successfully completed the European certification examination in Medical Oncology.
His site specialist interests include Lymphomas, Lung cancer, Upper GI and pancreatic/biliary cancers and melanomas. He is the oncology lead in Bedford for Cancer Unknown Primary (CUP) and has been appointed as the lead for the Acute Oncology Team in November 2010. Dr Bulusu chairs the Primrose Oncology Systemic Therapy & Audit Group and co chairs the Upper GI Specialist MDT in the network.
Dr Bulusu has a keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He has been nominated as the Oncology Teacher of the Year for 5 years in succession from 2004-2008 by the medical students from the University of Cambridge. He is the educational supervisor for the Faculty of Clinical Oncology at the Royal College of Radiologists UK and a member of the Anglia deanery oncology regional educational training committee.
Dr Bulusu is the network lead and one of the national experts on Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST), a rare sarcoma of the gastrointestinal tract. Working with the other specialists in this area, he has developed the national guidelines for the management of this tumour. He has lectured, presented and published extensively on this subject. He has been actively involved in numerous clinical trials at the cancer centre both as a principal and co investigator.
In 2013, Dr Bulusu has been appointed as the member of the Sarcoma group of National Cancer Research Institute. American Society of Clinical Oncology has appointed Dr Bulusu as a member of the Scientific Program Committee in Sarcoma for three year tenure. He is also an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology, European Association of Cancer Research.
