About me
My orthopaedic training completed with spine fellowships both in Edinburgh and Nottingham. I started my consultant career at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham in February 2004.
In October 2006 I was asked to return to the Scottish National Spine Deformity Service where I continue my NHS practice. I continue to enjoy working with people to help them from infants through to retired adults with the full range of spine conditions. However due to various changes in private medicine recently I have had to take the difficult decision to only accept private patients from 18th birthday and above from 28/11/2019.
Beyond front line clinical care there is a great sense of friendship and fellowship among all clinicians treating spine conditions in Scotland, and beyond. I enjoy teaching at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and helping with the informal Scottish Spine Surgeons group.
Aside from clinical practice I provide an expert medicolegal practice for Courts in Scotland and England. This includes expert reports for both personal injury and medical negligence in spinal accidents and incidents.
To help comply with the Data Protection Act (1998) and from 25/05/2018 the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 2016) I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office - registration ZA210134 (under "Edinburgh Spine Specialist Ltd") - https://ico.org.uk
