I am a practising NHS Physician with speciality training in respiratory, general and sleep medicine. I am an active researcher and Principal Investigator in several trials in lung medicine and Director of Research at Musgrove Park Hospital, currently I am Secretary of the British Thoracic Society.
Through the South West Sleep Clinic I mainly see people with cough, breathlessness and breathing problems, sleep disorders, insomnia and snoring. I see the full range of general medicial specialties at Musgrove in my NHS practice.
I offer a number of specialist services including sleep studies, bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy for pleural effusions.

My major research area is in cardiovascular risk in sleep apnoea but I currently contribute to 10 studies as Principal Investigator. These cover a diverse range of Sleep and Lung conditions. I support both academic and comercial studies within the National Institues of Health Research portfolio. I am the grant hooder for an NIHR grant studying the use of nasal decongestants in sleep apnoea.

I have published over 30 peer reviewed articles in a range of journals including the Lancet, Thorax and The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. I review article submissions from a number of Sleep and Respiratory Journals.
