About me

Mr. Sinclair was born in Scotland where he spent his youth and university education. He graduated from The University of Glasgow in 1991. Thereafter he undertook surgical training in Glasgow and obtained the FRCS from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1996.

Mr. Sinclair moved to Cambridge in 1997 where he commenced his senior surgical training on the Oxford and Cambridge surgical rotation. He trained as a specialist in hepatobiliary and upper GI surgery and obtained the FRCS (General Surgery) in 2001.

Appointed as a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust in 2012, he has management experience as Director of Surgery, Cancer lead for upper GI and HPB cancers and Surgeon Champion for the American College of Surgeons Quality Improvement Program (ACSNSQIP).

He recently spent a year’s sabbatical in Abu Dhabi as Chief of Surgery at Al Noor Hospital.

He is Surgical Coordinator for The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) - a healthcare quality improvement organization that assesses the quality of care within hospitals across the UK.

As NCEPOD Surgical Coordinator, he has co-authored 4 national reports highlighting the need for improvements in the care of patients with Gastrointestinal Bleeding, Acute Pancreatitis, Bowel Obstruction and Diabetes in Surgery. He is also currently coordinating studies assessing the care of patients with Epilepsy.
