About me

I am a Sport and Exercise Medicine doctor. I trained at the Academic Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine in London in 1997. I also worked there as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and was one of the earliest members of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK). Having been a sports woman (Heptathlon and Rugby) - I enjoy all sport and try my hand now and then at triathlon. Having been frequently and chronically injured as a sports woman, I have an interest in how important movement control is for the prevention and treatment of chronic knee, hip, groin and back pain. I also have an interest in Optimum Performance including how Gut Dysbiosis (imbalance between good and bad gut microorganisms) has an impact on our joint and tendons (and general well being and performance)

Areas of interest

I have a special interest in how nutrition effects our joints and soft tissues. I treat all joint problems particularly low back, knees, shoulders and neck. I prefer to treat the patient holistically and use conservative means before intervention.

Poor movement and daily posture patterns effect soft tissues and joints and may seem unrelated to the area that hurts. These are not always picked up with initial physiotherapy or indeed operation. I like to use exercise and restoration of good movement/flexibility to help people to find a long term solution for their joint and tendon problems.
Knee, shoulder, hips - including osteoarthritis and meniscal problems;
Ultrasound - I am trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound receiving Distinction in the Diploma examination from Bournemouth University. I am a trainer for MSK ultrasound.

Joint injections (where necessary) for acute and chronic disorders including for arthritis;
