About me
Dr Chris Davies grew up in Worcestershire and went to Evesham High School then Kings School, Worcester and subsequently Medical School at the University of Birmingham from 1985 to 1990. He then worked in the West Midlands and Oxford Deanery before embarking on a career in Respiratory Medicine. He completed his specialist training in 1999 after working at High Wycombe, Banbury, the Churchill and John Radcliffe Hospitals, Oxford. During this time he completed a postgraduate doctorate (MD) on work around pneumonia and pleural disease and produced studies about the cardiovascular risks of obstructive sleep apnoea.
In 1999 he was appointed as Consultant Physician in Reading and is now the senior clinician and Clinical Lead in the Department of Respiratory Medicine in the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
He has been the Clinical Director for Acute Medicine at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust between 2004 and 2007. He has also been the Training Programme Director responsible for training in Respiratory Medicine for the Oxford Deanery, a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Respiratory Medicine at the Joint Royal Colleges Postgraduate Training Board (JRCPTB), and the Regional Specialty Adviser in Respiratory Medicine. He received his Fellowship of the Royal Colleges (FRCP) in 2004.
Between 2011 and 2015 he was also the Director of Core Medical Training for the Oxford Deanery responsible for the organisation and implementation of training for over 80 junior doctors in training for further medical careers.
He is a member of the British Thoracic Society and has been a participating member of the Pleural Guidelines Group and the Pulmonary Embolism Guideline Group. He is also a member of the British Sleep Society
