I am a substantive NHS Consultant with more than 30 years' experience in paediatric medicine, my sub-specialty interests being paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, and food allergy.
Having qualified from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka with First Class Honours, I completed my PhD thesis at the University of Birmingham, UK on the immunology of breast milk. I have maintained my sub-specialty interests in mucosal immunology, gastrointestinal disorders and food allergy.
I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham Medical School and an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Warwick Medical School. I am also an Associate Postgraduate Dean at Health Education England - West Midlands (formerly West Midlands Deanery).
