He was Director of Medical Education at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich from 2003 to 2010, and of South London Healthcare NHS Trust from 2010 to 2013. He is now Clinical Director for Rheumatology, Neurology and Dermatology at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
His PhD was in the molecular immunogenetics of rheumatoid arthritis and Felty's syndrome. He chaired the British Society for Rheumatology's national guideline group for the management of the hot swollen joint. His research interests are in septic arthritis and clinical research in rheumatoid arthritis.
