Dr Cottrill has been a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at St Bartholomew's (Barts) Hospital London since 1998. He has a specialist interest in the treatment of breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers and Kaposi's sarcoma with both chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Within the field of radiotherapy Dr Cottrill has a specialist interest in combined chemo-radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT, RapidArc, VMAT) and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). He is fully accredited in the use of CyberKnife stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) at Barts Hospital, the London Clinic and the Harley Street Clinic CyberKnife units.
Since 2000 Dr Cottrill has lectured annually on international postgraduate courses in the field of evidence-based radiation therapy for the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO). He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Barts Cancer Institute, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
