I have been an NHS consultant at Ipswich Hospital for over 18 years and have led the service through a number of ground-breaking developments in the field of radiotherapy. I have trained other hospitals in the technology of IMRT. I have or had had a number of management and leadership responsibilities over the past decade including Head of Service, Trust Cancer Lead and Divisional Clinical Director. Additionally I have responsibilities at regional and national level including East of England Clinical Senate Representative for the Radiotherapy CRG and am joint clinical lead for the Suffolk/Norfolk EAHSN hub for cancer. I have previously chaired the Anglia (now (Eastern) Research Executive Group overseeing the formulation and delivery of the Anglia Cancer Research strategy.

Phase three clinical trials. I am the PI for a number of clinical trials relevant to my areas of specialist expertise (head and neck; prostate) some of which have been practice-changing eg PARSPORT (parotid sparing IMRT in head and neck cancer); RT01 (dose escalation in prostate cancer); CHHiP (shortened radiotherapy in curative treatment of prostate cancer).
