I trained and worked initially in pastoral care as a hospital chaplain.
My early work as a therapist was also in hospitals; during this time I focused on how people navigate emotions when experiencing uncertainty and adversity.
My aim with a client is to gain a shared formulation of a current problem in your life. We map out ways early life experiences shape the way you perceive things now, and how you want things to change.
We then stick to a here-and-now practical approach, where most of the therapy is done by the client between sessions.
We agree experiments with new ways of behaving in order to test out any unhelpful assumptions you might be holding. The aim is moving toward flexibility and improved quality of life.
Your own values and goals are at the basis of the work. We problem solve difficult situations and aim to increase your confidence in your ability to do well in future.
