Frist degree in Medicine was in University of Dublin 1984, and trained to Registrar level till 1989, when I moved to the Specialst Training program in University College Hospital London. I was appointed Consultant haematologist in 1996 in Basildon Hospital, and transferred as head of dept to Southend Hospital in 2010 which remains my main employment. I became Clinical Director for Dianostic and Therepeutics in Southend Hospital in 2015. I have a broad experience in all things haematological, but particualar interests in lymphoma and myeloma. I am a strong believer in listening to my patients, and advising treatments tailored to their needs. My research interests are in lymphoma, and I have a strong interest in developing biopsy devices - for bone marrow and lymph nodes.
Areas of interest
I have 20 years broad experience as a Consultant haematologist, having trained on the University College London specialist training rotation and am currently head of Haematology Dept in Southend University Hospitals NHS Trust and Clinical Director for Diagnostics and Therepeutics. I have a particular interest in Malignant Haematology - such as myeloma or lymphoma, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, and myelodysplasia and also an interest in thrombosis management and general haematology

From Apr 2010, I have worked as Consultant Haematologist and Head of Dept in Haematology in Southend University Hospitals NHS FT, a large acute hospital with Cancer Center status. In January 2015, I becam the Clinical Director for Diagnostics and Therepeutics services in Southend Hospital.

Have presented to GP conferences and Time to Learn opportunities to local GP's in South Essex and always willing to present.
Over the past three years, we have conducted outcome audits on our patients with lymphoma and myeloma, and these have been shown to be superior to the outcomes expected from clinical trials (details available on request)
