About me

Dr Claire Feeney is an Honorary Senior Lecturer and Consultant Endocrinologist at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. Her NHS practice is at the Western Eye and Charing Cross Hospitals in London. As well as general endocrinology and general medicine she has a subspeciality interest in thyroid eye disease and pituitary dysfunction.

She undertook pre-clinical training at Cambridge and clinical studies at Imperial College, London, graduating in 2005. During her clinical training she was competitively awarded a Medical Research Council Training Fellowship to undertake a PhD in neuroinflammation and the hormonal/systemic influences on brain degeneration and repair with a focus on growth hormone deficiency and the metabolic syndrome. She continues to be academically active, supervises endocrinology BSc students and has published over 25 peer reviewed articles.

Alongside this, Dr Feeney has developed subspecialty expertise in thyroid eye disease (TED) over the last decade having formed one of the first multidisciplinary TED clinics in 2011 with her oculoplastic colleagues and is expert in managing the condition throughout the lifecycle of the disease. She has a particular interest in specialist orbital diffusion imaging to guide timely decision making and clinical trials of new therapies to treat this condition.
