About me

Joanna Reed specialises in laparoscopic (key hole) general surgery including surgery for all types of abdominal hernias including groin (inguinal and femoral), umbilical, incisional and all other hernias of the abdominal wall. She has a specialist interest in the treatment of gallstones, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and treatment for advanced and difficult problems such as common duct stones and previous partial cholecystectomy. She also specialises in treatment of gallstones and gallbladder problems in obese patients and those with previous abdominal surgery. She also treats benign upper GI problems, including surgery for gastro-intestinal reflux and hiatus hernia, and carries out gastroscopy. She performs laparoscopic splenectomy for haematological conditions. She is the only surgeon in Colchester undertaking laparoscopic adrenalectomy. She is happy to see and treat lumps and bumps and minor skin lesions.
