About me

As a systemically trained counsellor I pay attention to what is happening in your world right now, what is influencing your life and thoughts. Believing that change is always possible given the right conditions exist for that change to thrive and embed. It follows that one of the most important points to me is that my clients are given a safe, confidential space where they can explore their concerns, but where they are valued, accepted and given compassion.

I consider my approach to be what is termed “integrative” where I use a blend of theory and techniques from the Person-Centred, Solution Focused, Systemic schools of counselling and psychotherapy. Practising from this approach I am able to adapt my way of working with clients to the unique needs and wishes of the individual. I am particularly interested in how relationships have affected and influenced your perception of what is happening in your world; this is including people who might have had influence on you in your early life. Very important are those people you have around you today as they can apply great influence either positive or negative affecting your daily decisions. The therapeutic relationship that will form between us as counsellor and client is also of great importance.

EMDR therapy is a phased, focused approach to treating trauma by reconnecting the client in a safe and controld way to the images, emotions, and sensations they associate with the event. Thereby allowing the brains natural healing powers move toward adaptive resolution.

Based on the idea that symptoms occur when trauma/other negative and challenging experiences overwhelm the brain’s natural ability to heal. The process helps the healing process, is facilitated through bilateral stimulation while the client is re-experiencing the trauma in the context of a safe environment.
