Profile

Mr. Lawrence offers excellent hip replacement and knee replacement surgery, successful in all patients, irrespective of age, level of activity and body build. He has been operating as a consultant since 1999 and has undertaken almost 2000 primary hip replacements and 600 revision hip surgeries. Mr Lawrence specialises in young patients with poorly formed hips and he reconstructs the hip joints with bone grafting.Mr. Lawrence is frequently referred hip replacements complicated by fractures, infections, dislocations, and bone damage.

His outcomes, according to the National Joint Registry, are excellent and he achieves a revision rate 1/5th of the National average. In younger patients , his revision rate is even better at almost 1/10th of the national average.

His other interests include, keyhole surgery of the knee joint and knee joint replacement surgery.

Background

Mr. Lawrence graduated from Edinburgh University in 1986. He has worked at the finest orthopaedic centres in the UK, including Wrightington Hospital where the pioneering hip replacement work by Sir John Charnley was undertaken and Exeter, where major advances in hip design and surgical technique were made. Throughout his professional career, Mr Lawrence has been improving on the techniques learnt at these centres. Mr. Lawrence spent one year at The University of Virginia, Charlottesville USA as a surgical and research fellow.
